PT PLN (Persero) together with the Ministry of energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) held an electric conversion motorcycle race in the PLN EV Conversion Race 2024 event at the Sentul International Karting Circuit, Bogor regency, West Java, on Sunday (22/9).
This gasoline motorcycle racing event that has been converted into an electric motorcycle is one of the government’s campaigns to create energy security and achieve the mission of reducing carbon emissions.
“The government is constantly looking for ways to two things. Firstly, it puts energy security, secondly it lowers emissions, and this needs to be done all at once. The activities carried out now are a combination of these two things,” said Secretary General of the Ministry of energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana.
“We use electricity for vehicles, electricity from domestic plants, by using electricity, emissions can be reduced,” he added.

The PLN EV Conversion Race 2024 will take place in two rounds, namely on Sunday, September 22 and October 13, 2024.
This convertible electric motorcycle race is the first in the world and has adopted the technical regulations of electric motorcycle racing in accordance with the regulations of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI).
The PLN EV Conversion Race 2024 consists of two classes, the EV Race, which is a 12-lap race with a 2kW electric motorcycle, and the EV Endurance category which tests the endurance of the 2kW electric conversion motorcycle for 2 hours on the racing circuit.

The 2024 PLN EV Conversion Race drivers from various vocational schools from various regions in Indonesia will compete for the ESDM Minister’s Cup with a total prize of IDR 222 million.
On the same occasion, the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (Aismoli), which also supports this event, said that the PLN EV Conversion Race 2024 is one of the government’s efforts to introduce the reliability of electric motorcycles, including conversions, to the public.
“The purpose of this activity is to provide learning and education that there are still many of our people who seem to still not know that electric motorcycles are new and especially those that convert are actually of the same quality as combustion engine (gasoline) motors,” said Chairman Aismoli Budi Setiyadi.
