ULM creates electric car for operation on campus

Team Webmaster :  Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) creates electric cars for operations on campus by producing two types of vehicles, namely offroad type electric cars and golf type electric cars with the name “Hornbill”.

“We are proud of the work of ULM engineering students who have succeeded in developing energy-efficient and environmentally friendly electric cars,” said ULM Rector Prof Ahmad Alim Bachri in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, Sunday.

The Rector said that the advantages of the vehicle created can reduce emissions and be environmentally friendly because the driving force uses a battery-based electric motor vehicle called BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle).

Iphan Fitrian Radam as the dean of the Faculty of Engineering continues to encourage students to be able to mass produce electric vehicles through cooperation with the automotive industry as needed.

“This offroad car and golf car must be in great demand by the public, especially business actors such as resorts, hotels, villas, industrial estates, factories and others,” he said.

The Hornbill electric car was created by a Mechanical Engineering Study Program team with one lecturer Akhmad Syarief, four technicians Zainal Arman Razak, M Rizqi Al Fajar, Dhanu Suryanta, and Akhmad Febri Ramadhan, and five students Ali Ahmad Abdul Gafar, Egryanto Stepanus, Hanifudin, Muhammad Amin and Muhammad Arsyat.

The difference between the two types of Hornbill electric cars is in the passenger capacity for the offroad type of six people and the passenger capacity of the golf type is eight people.

“For the upper trunk, front storage box, leg components, dimensions and tires and wheels used are also different,” explained Zainal Arman Razak.

For a maximum speed of 40 km/h with a load range or battery life of three hours as well as a recharge of four to six hours.
