Trade minister reveals illegal carpet imports from Turkey worth Rp10 billion

Team Webmaster :  Minister of trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan revealed the findings of allegedly illegal carpet imports from Turkey worth Rp10 billion found illegal import Task Force in Tangerang, Banten.

He revealed that on September 10, 2024, supervision was carried out at the company’s warehouse located at the Jatake Industrial Estate, Jatiuwung District, Tangerang, Banten.

The company is engaged in the manufacture of industrial carpets/rugs and the like.

In the warehouse, textile goods and textile products in the form of carpets/rugs of imported origin were found to have been allegedly imported without import approval documents (PI), surveyor reports (LS) and registration of registration of goods related to security, safety, health and environment (K3L).

“Not through the procedure, if our industry is not a problem, good, please, but there is this side, imports without doing the procedure according to the provisions, of course the country is harmed, and the tax is reduced,” he said.

Furthermore, Zulkifli said that the industry imported thousands of carpets that did not match the documents. The industry is suspected of using raw material excuse mode.

The trade minister also said that the allegedly illegal carpet would be destroyed by the importer, in this case the industry which would be supervised directly by the illegal import Task Force.

“Will impose administrative sanctions on importers of these goods. But, if there are other elements, there is Bareskrim, the prosecutor’s office. If the Ministry of trade, our task force is administrative, ” he explained.

Therefore, he asked business actors in various fields to comply with the rules in force in Indonesia.

“If not, the Task Force will continue to perform its tasks, Bareskrim, Attorney General’s Office, Customs, BIN, Chamber of Commerce, as well as marine security will be involved,” said The Trade Minister.
